Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in submitting your work to The 1000 Lives And Many More Literary Magazine. 


Our mission here is to champion creativity in the form of short fiction, essays, poetry and illustrative art, with a focus on quirky, breath-taking work that stands out in a crowd.  

If you are a writer or illustrator we want to hear from you.  We accept ongoing submissions year around, always planning for the next issue.

Poetry Guidelines:

Submit up to 6 poems. Please include your entire submission in one file and be sure your name and contact information are included on the first page of the file. All work should be sent by email to: athousandliveslivedpublishers@gmail.com.  Acceptable file formats include .doc, .docx, and .pdf. Please send one submission at a time and wait for a response before you submit additional work. 

Short-fiction Guidelines

Submit up to 2 short-fiction pieces in one submission, with a word count between 1000-5000 words. Please include a cover letter in the body of your email with the following: a brief synopsis of your work, and a 100-word author bio which would be suitable for your print and digital biography.  Please also be sure to include your contact information and your social media links.  Submit your work by email to: athousandliveslivedpublishers@gmail.com with Subject Line: Magazine Submission: [author name] + [title of work].  Our editors will get back to you with an answer within 1-2 weeks.


Illustration Submissions

Submit up to ten illustrations per issue.  If you would like a write-up to accompany your illustration please include it in your email to us.  Your illustration should be sent to us within the body of the email as a PNG file with a minimum 640 x 480. If your illustration is chosen by our editors, we will request additional sizes of your image to accommodate either full, partial or quarter features in our magazine.  Your illustrations should be sent with a cover letter giving titles for each illustration, your name and a brief bio along with your contact information.


General Guidelines

  1. Entries must be previously unpublished. We do accept simultaneous submissions, but please let us know immediately via email if your work is accepted elsewhere.

  2. Full submission should be copied and pasted into the body of the email.  Our editors will not be opening attachments.

TWO Ways to Submit

Members receive personalized invitations for all calls made by the literary magazine and publishing house.  

Members are given complimentary promotional opportunities including an online profile page connected to the author's website, and social media links, promotion of the author's work on A Thousand Lives Lived social media pages and mentions in our podcast: The Flash Fiction Show.

 Our members are given first consideration for their pieces during the selection process. 
You may also submit your story, poetry or illustration as a guest, but you will not be granted the same promotional opportunities as our members.
